Lecture
Series - Part I
Facilitator: Dr. Kathleen Sullivan Sealey
Dr. Sealey demonstrated the power of “Mapping The Bahamas
Using Landsat 7 Imagery”. This project was initiated by the
United States Geological Survey and is the first step in a larger
project to model sustainable use and ecological function of tropical
bank systems. Simply put, this satellite provides imagery in various
ultra-violet bands that allows the data experts to extract very
specific data layers both on land and in the sea. To see ongoing
developments of this project visit http://
Among the attendees to the lecture included members of PAGG, representatives
from the College of The Bahamas, Gerace Field Station, Bahamas Boy
Scout Association, Utility Corporations, and various government
agencies. Special thanks to all those agencies that made the event
a success; the College of the Bahamas Research & Grants Unit,
Nature Conservatory Unit, Nassau Fellowship Centre and last but
not least all invited guests and the members of The Society.
